A College course is always a wise beginning because it provides training with a recognised qualification upon completion.
These courses are often split into Terms of up to 10 weeks at a time and can cost a few hundred pounds but the waiting lists to enrol can be lengthy! Also Term times can be awkward if you have a family or current work commitments, so what other option can you try?
Private courses are usually the next step and these are generally run by existing Grooming businesses and can necessitate you committing to any number of weeks working away from home. Some operate a 1 week Course, others can be up to 6 weeks or more and of course the cost can be anything from a few hundred to a couple of thousand pounds! Once again the time and costs involved can be very restrictive to someone only just ‘thinking’ of pursuing this type of career.

Groomer’s Taster Course!
The Course runs from my own business premises at my home which is sited in a beautifully rural aspect just outside of Llantrisant in the heart of Mid Glamorgan, South Wales.
Surrounded by stunning mountain and valley landscape and with my flock of purebred Hens in the garden 
clucking away, you will enjoy your time here as much for the Training as the Tranquillity!
As a Qualified Groomer and also a Qualified Tutor I designed this course to help people who, like myself, didn’t know where to start and had limited funds to invest at the beginning.
It is designed to be a short, comprehensive and inexpensive private course giving you a ‘Taste’ of what it can be like to be a Groomer for a day! An ‘idea’ of what it would be like doing it for real, for yourself! You don’t need any tools or have to provide any dogs; you just need to bring your enthusiasm.
The 1 Day Course commences prompt at 10am and finishes at 5pm covering a range of topics from the actual grooming of a dog (under my strict supervision) and health and safety in the grooming room, through to the administrative and operational aspects of running your own Grooming Business, including advertising, marketing and accounts.
A buffet style lunch provides a natural break between the morning and afternoon activities and by 5pm you can leave armed with a fairly comprehensive idea on what it's like to be a dog Groomer!
The Course costs just £125 inc for the day.
